Parking Spaces

Posted in Dread by Administrator on the March 17th, 2007

The only thing worse than the Taliban… Finding a parking space in Champaign/Urbana Illinois. Especially if you live in an apartment. While living in a small two bedroom in downtown Urbana, I had the most difficult time parking. On three separate occasions I can remember having notes on my vehicle saying I was in a rented space. Piss on you parking space renters. The street is public and I never met anyone that needed a parking space at a church seven days a week. I though I was done with all the hullabaloo, but on the last night in that cracker box of an apartment, I parked on the street just where I always had. The next morning I woke up to an actual parking ticket on the windshield of my wife’s car. I cursed a little and wondered what I had gotten it for! Turns out I was too close to a driveway and was considered blocking it because I was closer to it than (5′) five feet! There was plenty of room for people to enter and exit the lot. And the worst part was – there was another car on the other side of the drive parked just as close to the drive as I, however it didn’t see a ticket on his windshield. Bollix!!!! It’s only$15, but I think I’m going to fight it! It’s the principle.
