My Old Friend

Posted in LIFE by Administrator on the April 19th, 2007

I filmed a story today about a man who was killed in Iraq.  Little did I know it would instigate feelings I had not felt for sometime.  I remember my old friend Kyle Ryan Stegman.  He did not fight in any war, nor was he any savior for the United States, but he meant something to me.  Kyle was a brave man and not afraid to tell the truth no matter what it cost.  Kyle would never would harm any living being he said, unless it could fight back.  He was very good at reminding me that I should loosen up and enjoy life for what it is rather than what I though it was.  We all see things a little distorted sometimes.

As I filmed this man’s mother crying about the son she lost in Iraq I was bereaved for her, since the man had fought for my freedom and my safety.  I’m not sure how or what the correllation between Kyle and this man, but for some reason I felt as if I could empathise with this woman because of what I experienced so many years ago.  She lost someone dear to her and knows that he is okay with God now.  I can only pray that all those men and women will be remembered the way I remember Kyle…Not afraid to be happy.  Kyle if you’re out there reading this from somewhere, I miss you man.  It’s hard to think what life would be like with you here.  I know it would be a world of difference.  But I would love it nonetheless.

Moving can be…

Posted in LIFE by Administrator on the March 17th, 2007

Moving can be a lot of things. This week it was exhausting. We signed the papers and then, literally, moved everything. Our friend Mike helped me with the heavy stuff on Thursday. I picked up and lifted everything out of that silly little apartment and moved into our new home. I then drove to St. Louis and moved the rest of the big heavy stuff from our other house in Belleville. It put me out of commission for the rest of the weekend. Tired is the word for the day. Living at an intersection will take some getting used to, but I think it will work out. Our house is really right on a corner. Last night was my first night in there and I heard a few truck racing by, but it didn’t bother me too much. I may have to work something out for the basement to be sleep worthy (in case I need a nap or something). In any case it’s coming along nicely and I think it will be a nice place to live for a few years!

New Jobs are Fun

cameraI have recently been employed by an affiliate of CBS in Champaign, Illinois, USA.  WCIA channel 3 to be exact.  I just want to say I have never had so much fun while working.  Covering story after story can get tiresome from time to time, but it is always interesting and never boring.  Thank you all who have been in prayer and supported me in my quest to reach this goal.
